About Me
I am lucky enough to live in Sunny Southern California.
My woodworking skills are self taught, with an occasional class or clinic, a lot of books and magazines, followed
by hours in the shop. For me, woodworking has become a passion. It evolves over time from learning basic
joinery, to pursuing mastery in content, materials and form. It is the pursuit of perfection that always eludes and
encourages. It is a moving target that keeps you growing.
The lathe is different than other tools in that it encourages you to try new things.
I find the lathe to be very therapeutic. Within minutes of starting a turning, I have forgotten about my day and its
problems. Soon I find myself watching the bevel of the tool, eyeing the shavings for evidence of a good cut, and
listening to the wood as it will tell you how it is doing. Each project becomes a milestone of new skills learned,
and a lasting reminder of my short time here on Earth.
This site is not solely intended to showcase my work. I have found the turning community to be very supportive
and eager to share what they have learned, and it is in this spirit that I manage this site. I hope that my passion
for woodworking will bring you enjoyment.
Many of the items seen here have been sold or given as gifts. I would be happy to make something just for you!
And if you wish, a video that shows how it was done. Please take a look at my site and feel free to email me with
any questions or comments, and thank you for stopping by.
